The Pankey Institute was founded over 37 years ago to help spread Dr. L.D. Pankey's message of balance in the profession of dentistry.
Since then, we've seen nearly 20,000 dental professionals pass through our doors, and many of them have told us we changed their lives.
It's Not About Money
As a nonprofit organization, our way of doing business is just a little different. Our goals don't center around making a profit or making shareholders or an individual owner happy, but rather around focusing on individual students and creating a real impact on the profession of dentistry.

A Letter from Dr. Irwin M. Becker
Dear Doctor,
I think I've seen every kind of practice in the decades I've been a dentist and a faculty member here at the Institute. I've seen the ones that work and the ones that don't. I've seen the dentists who are happy and the ones who are only working for their retirements. And I've seen doctors who were heading for burnout turn it all around after coming to The Pankey Institute.
Here at the Institute, we've taken all we know about the technical and practical sides of dentistry and combined it with Dr. Pankey's Philosophy of Dentistry to create an experience like no other. Hundreds of dentists have told me personally how visiting the Institute has impacted their lives and practices for the good. I love hearing that and knowing that this organization I'm involved with, and have been for many years, is making a difference in the world. I want to hear it from you, too.
Coming to the Institute is an experience. We call it 'the Pankey experience', and it truly is marvelous. For a few days, our students can put aside their worries and isolation as they come together in a spirit of courageous openness. They stay together in our lodging and form deeply bonded friendships. They come to class eager to learn and I can see in their faces how much they love coming here.
I watch them filling up with new ideas until they're bursting to get home and try them out. I feel their enthusiasm grow and watch them blossom as they realize how supportive and caring this faculty is. I know when they go home they'll start creating deep relationships with their patients, revamping their schedules to create their own ideal practices, and using their new technical skills. It's wonderful to see these kinds of positive changes.
