Restoring the Occlusally Challenged Patient

BradyLee_AnnPatients with a diagnosis of TMD present with a combination of joint, muscle, and occlusal issues. Through a comprehensive exam, diagnosis, and appliance therapy we can understand their unique situation and achieve stability. KlieveMarkThe next phase for many of these patients is to create stability on the tops of their teeth and address their restorative needs. This course will look at how we customize the patient’s occlusal scheme and final appliance therapy to manage joint loading, muscle engagement, and occlusal wear for long-term patient comfort and stability.

  • The relationship between joint loading and occlusal contacts
  • Harmonizing guidance for wear patients
  • Managing the occlusion for patients who clench
  • Altering vertical dimension
  • Balancing condylar guidance and occlusal contacts
  • Managing appliance therapy during the restorative phase
  • Patients with multiple occlusions
