A New Pankey Curriculum Begins in In fewer core courses, participants will cover more material and be better prepared to immediately implement their learning when they arrive home. And more specialty courses become available after attending just the first core course. As in the past, the entire curriculum is supported by Dr. L.D. Pankey’s philosophy of practice. We offer a set of four core courses and numerous elective courses. Individual learners choose the courses they are ready to pursue next, based on self-knowledge of their own interests and the relevancy of the subjects to their own life. At the Institute, we view the new curriculum as a learning wheel. At the center of the wheel is a set of essential courses. Radiating from that core are sets of other courses, like spokes on a wheel. When the learner is ready to branch from the core to one of the spokes, she or he elects to do so according to personal interest and perceived need at the time.
1. Learn and implement the essentials of the Pankey curriculum faster. 2. Have more flexibility to step off of the Continuum path and learn about special topics before going further along the Continuum. 3. Return to the Institute beyond the core courses to learn from more visiting “masters.” In addition to this, we know that adult learners are most engaged when they choose what they study, based on their immediate desire to know the subject matter and implement their learning. There have been some changes in course length and scheduling. Three of the Essentials courses (E2-E4) cover more material than the 3.5-day courses and require an extra half-day to complete. While redesigning the courses, we took into consideration the request of a large number of our participants to add a day to some courses to provide more time. As a benefit, participants will have more hands-on experience so they can implement their learning better, immediately after returning home.
