This 2 day course introduces the participant to the Pankey Philosophy and provides experiential learning in:

  • Taking excellent alginate impressions using the Alginator
  • Pouring perfect casts
  • Taking a facebow transfer*
  • Mounting the maxillary cast with the facebow using the Accumount*
  • Mounting the mandibular cast using a bite record*
  • Setting up the articulator using a protrusive bite*
  • Fabricating a splint shell on her/his own mounted casts*
  • Creating an exquisite provisional using the indirect method
  • Understanding appropriate mirror placement and retraction for excellent clinical photography

* Each participant will bring the facebow and articulator from their offices to use throughout the exercises. If a participant does not have these items, the Institute will provide them.

Completed CII-E but still wondering about some aspects of splints and equilibration? Mastering Occlusal Concepts is a golden opportunity to review concepts and continue practicing occlusal appliance and equilibration techniques with the assistance of experts at The Pankey Institute.

Gaining Mastery
You will gain mastery and confidence while working directly with occlusal masters. During this course, you will:

  • Be able to recognize and correct imperfections in the occlusal scheme on the universal flat planed appliance.
  • Recognize and understand the correlation between surface irregularities and interferences on the appliance and muscle release.
  • Have an enhanced understanding of anterior guidance and its importance in a healthy occlusion.
  • Understand crossover in relation to anterior guidance and condylar inclination.
  • Be introduced to the Tanner appliance.

Digital photography can propel your practice to the next level. Patients want to see results, and with photography, you can show them just that.

But getting started isn't always easy. Perhaps you're in a quandary over digital camera selection, preparation for capturing images, image composition and capture, image management, or digital presentations to benefit the patient. You may even feel fairly adept but know there is still much to be learned.

Dental Photography Expert Shares Knowledge
Dr. Steve Ratcliff, author of Digital Dental Photography: A Clinician's Guide, has designed this course that covers all aspects of digital clinical photography.

Each participant will be exposed to a complete system, from selecting the camera through utilizing digital images in treatment conference, post-treatment consultation, and internal marketing.

A Hands-On Course
This is a hands-on course, in which you will be using Institute cameras for your photo sessions, or if you choose, your own. Topics covered include:

The Pankey Scholar Program

The Pankey Scholar is intended for those who desire to continue their self-development by demonstrating the level they have achieved in philosophical understanding and application; behavioral relations with patients, staff, and others; clinical competency; and practice financial management.


Not a Degree, But an Honor
Completion of the program will not credit you with a degree utilized by other academic institutions, but your mature attitude and commitment will register with those associated with The Pankey Institute, who understand the value of this self-expression.

The Process
In two sessions, you will be asked to demonstrate your understanding of your practice financial situation and prudent managerial decision-making. Staff issues and application of philosophical principles will be revealed through group discussions.

You will also have the opportunity to display a portfolio of your excellent dentistry to the Scholar Panel.

The second session will follow the first by nine months, to allow time for participants to complete individualized growth assignments based on the discovery of the first session.

Each session is limited to six participants.

Fluent understanding of the principles of comprehensive patient care, occlusion, interdisciplinary care and restorative dentistry, as taught in the Continuum, will be afforded each participant.

Participants will also receive the opportunity to demonstrate excellent intra-oral photography (slide or digital) and case documentation.

Prerequisites:

  • Completion of the most senior level Continuum
  • Licensed dentist in good standing
  • Participation in the Business System Development Program
  • Written Vision and Mission Statements
  • Written Position Papers with all specialists and lab technicians you utilize
  • Documented portfolio of comprehensively treated patients
